Last updated: May 27, 2025
Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal data BraiseUp Academy collects, why we collect it, and how we protect it. Please read it carefully before using our platform.
1. Who We Are
BraiseUp Academy ("we", "our", "us") is an online learning platform operated from Nigeria. We provide AI, productivity, and business skills training through courses, live sessions, and certifications. Our registered contact is braiseupacademy@gmail.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly: • Account data — name, email address, and password when you register. • Profile data — optional details such as a bio or profile photo. • Payment data — transaction references and payment status via Paystack. We do not store your card details. • Course activity — modules completed, quiz attempts, and certificates earned. • Communications — messages you send to us via email or contact forms. We also collect data automatically: • Usage data — pages visited, features used, and session duration. • Device data — browser type, operating system, and IP address.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to: • Create and manage your account. • Process enrolments and verify payments. • Deliver course content, live sessions, and certificates. • Send transactional emails (enrolment confirmations, session reminders, certificate issuance). • Send platform updates or promotional emails — you may opt out at any time. • Improve our platform through aggregated analytics. • Comply with legal obligations under Nigerian law.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) 2019 and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 on the following grounds: • Contract performance — to fulfil your enrolment and deliver the services you purchased. • Legitimate interests — to improve the platform and prevent fraud. • Consent — for marketing communications, which you may withdraw at any time. • Legal obligation — where required by Nigerian law or a court order.
5. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with: • Service providers that help us operate the platform (e.g. Paystack for payments, Resend for email delivery, Cloudinary for media hosting, Bunny Stream for video). • Google LLC — for Google Meet and Google Calendar when you join a live session. • Law enforcement or regulatory bodies when required by law. All third-party processors are contractually bound to protect your data.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law (e.g. financial records for 6 years). Course completion records and certificates may be retained indefinitely to support verification requests.
7. Your Rights
Under the NDPR, you have the right to: • Access the personal data we hold about you. • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data. • Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention obligations). • Object to or restrict certain processing. • Data portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used format. • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email us at braiseupacademy@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Cookies
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and maintain your session. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some platform features may not function correctly as a result.
9. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. Please keep your password confidential and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
